How is my rewards/cashback calculated?

For eligible Grab transactions (such as Grab Food, Transport, Mart, and Express in Singapore), you earn rewards in the form of GrabCoins. The earn rate is tiered based on your total spend in a monthly billing cycle:

  • Base Tier (3% back in GrabCoins): Awarded on your eligible Grab transactions without any minimum spend requirements. You will fall into this tier regardless of your Grab spend if you do not hit the S$500 minimum on off-Grab spends.
  • Mid Tier (5% back in GrabCoins): Awarded when you spend between S$500 and S$999 on eligible Grab transactions AND have at least S$500 in eligible off-Grab spend charged in a billing cycle.
  • High Tier (10% back in GrabCoins): Awarded when you spend S$1,000 or more on eligible Grab transactions AND have at least S$500 in eligible off-Grab spend charged in a billing cycle.

Overseas Grab Spend: A flat 10% back in GrabCoins is awarded for all eligible Grab transactions made outside Singapore, regardless of your current spending tier. The final reward is calculated based on the transaction value converted into GrabCoins at Grab's prevailing rate.

Note: Wallet top-ups (including GrabPay) and instalment payment plans are excluded from earning rewards.

For general local spends (off-Grab), you earn a 1.75% Base Cashback on all eligible transactions. There is a minimum spend requirement of S$500 in eligible off-Grab transactions during your monthly billing cycle to qualify. For Eligible Singtel Transactions, you earn a 1.75% Singtel Cashback. Unlike the Base Cashback, there is no minimum spend requirement and no cap on the amount of Singtel Cashback you can earn each billing cycle.

GrabCoins are calculated based on tiered spending limits, while off-Grab cashback is calculated at 1.75% of your total eligible transactions, rounded up to the nearest cent. Additionally, Singtel Cashback is calculated at 1.75% of your total Eligible Singtel Transactions, rounded up to the nearest cent.

Scenario A: Hit S$500 in eligible off-Grab transactions: 
A customer spends S$600 on eligible off-Grab transactions in a billing cycle, meeting the S$500 minimum. They earn 1.75% of S$600, resulting in S$10.50 Base Cashback credited to their account. If they also spend S$100 on Grab transactions, they fall into the Base Tier and receive a 3% reward back in GrabCoins on that S$100 spend.

Scenario B: Did not hit S$500 in eligible off-Grab transactions: 
A customer spends S$400 on eligible off-Grab transactions in a billing cycle, failing to meet the S$500 minimum. They do not earn any cashback, and only qualify for the Base Tier (3% back in GrabCoins) for their eligible Grab transactions.

Scenario C: Singtel Cashback Independence: A customer spends S$100 on general eligible off-Grab transactions and S$150 on an Eligible Singtel Transaction during their billing cycle. They will not earn Base Cashback on the S$100 off-Grab spend because they failed to meet the S$500 minimum. However, they will successfully earn S$2.63 in Singtel Cashback (1.75% of S$150) because the Singtel Cashback does not require meeting any minimum spend milestone.
